Protecting the Child's Best Interests
Throughout the course of handling cases involving children, I always keep the best interests of the child in mind. My goal is to create a custody agreement and that allows the child(ren) to see both parents as much as possible, if at all appropriate. In order to provide clients with a realistic view of potential child support arrangements, I use software that recreates the calculations used by Pennsylvania courts to determine the appropriate amount of support.
Most importantly, I encourage clients to work custody and child support issues out with the other parent if at all possible. This often minimizes costs, time, and additional stress on the children. It also allows the parents and not the court system to determine the best arrangement for their family, instead of having one imposed on them. However, I understand that there will be times when parents cannot work together, especially when there are allegations of abuse or neglect. If an agreement cannot be reached, I zealously advocate for my client in court. Modifications and Enforcements
I also represent clients seeking to modify or enforce existing custody and support court orders. If you want to relocate out of state for a new job, I can help you file for a modification of the custody agreement. Conversely, if you want to prevent your former spouse from moving your children to another state, I can help you petition the court to enforce the original custody agreement. If there has been a change in you or your former spouse's financial circumstances, such as losing a job or getting a raise, I also can help you seek to modify the support agreement to reflect this change.
